                                                                                                                                                                                                                        January 17th, 2013
Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello! This week the GRASP students participated in different activities that involved being fun and creative. One activity the students did involved coloring pasta and then using the pasta to create a picture. The students all enjoyed the activities this week.

I do have a special note from Mr. Dalchow and I regarding the GRASP program and the winter weather. Here is how the GRASP program will operate as it relates to late starts, early releases due to weather, and school cancelations:
1 or 2 hour late start to school
·        OST will still be open at 7 AM with breakfast served at 8 AM

Early release from school due to weather

·        No OST
School cancelation
·        No OST
o       Note that if school gets called off after a late start, students will need to be picked up immediately as there will be no OST after a cancelation of school.
Next Week’s Agenda:
·        Monday- Camping Trip- The students have to name an object they would bring on a camping trip that begins with the last letter of the item that was previously mentioned.
·        Tuesday- Indoor Smores Cook Out- The students will be making indoor smores in the microwave.
·        Wednesday- Capture the Flag- Each team will have to hide a flag and then they will have to try and capture the other teams flag.
·        Thursday- Over and Under Relay- The students have to pass a ball either over their head or under their legs to the next person.
·        Friday- Camp Movie Day- Fred 3: Camp Fred (G)

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Dalchow at Dan.Dalchow@k12.sd.us or 397-2317 or you can contact me at Rose.Long@k12.sd.us.

I really enjoy working with the students that attend GRASP and would personally like to invite all students to GRASP. If your child would like to participate in the GRASP program, Department of Social Services does have a program available to assist you with the cost for those who qualify. Every day they are making memories and having fun! You can visit us at http://grotonareaost.blogspot.com/. Have a good weekend.
