GRASP Rocks!
May 10th, 2013
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hello! This week the GRASP students participated in different activities this week in relation to our theme of Mother’s Day. One of the activities involved balancing a beanbag while participating in a relay race outside. The students also created Mother’s Day ribbons and cards. We also played different games this week and read books that relate to Mothers and Mother’s Day.
As the school year is coming to an end, we start to think about summer activities. OST does offer a Summer Extension Program. The hours are from 7 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. A contract letter has been sent home with a little more information regarding the Summer OST Program. We will be doing educational centers and activities along with fun centers and activities. Please return the contract letter if you are interested in having your child(ren) attend the Summer OST Program.
Next Week’s Agenda: Physical Activity
· Monday- Twister Relay- The students will work in teams and twist like they are dancing doing the relay race.
· Tuesday- Standing Pretzel Relay- The students will hop to the finish line while in the position of a pretzel.
· Wednesday- Outdoors Balancing- We will participate in relays trying to balance bean bags while outside.
· Thursday- Refrigerator Tag- The students will need to try and tag someone while they run to a base that describes how they feel about a food.
· Friday- Kick Ball- We will play kick ball in the field by the playground.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Dalchow at Dan.Dalchow@k12.sd.us or 397-2317 or you can contact me at Rose.Long@k12.sd.us or at 605-216-0873.
I really enjoy working with the students that attend GRASP and would personally like to invite all students to GRASP. If your child would like to participate in the GRASP program, Department of Social Services does have a program available to assist you with the cost for those who qualify. Every day they are making memories and having fun! You can visit us at http://grotonareaost.blogspot.com/. Have a good weekend and Happy Easter!
Ms. Long
